  • About Me

Hi there! Welcome to my profile! My name is Andrea White, I was born on April 3 1997 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
My childcare experience starts at the tender age of 12 years old, taking a babysitting course for the first time. After I completed my course, a week later I got my first babysitting job with a family that lived on my street. I babysat their daughter for 3 years until they had to move. I was there for all family outings, prepared light meals according to instructions from family, made sure all the needs of their daughter was met, planned activities for their daughter are just some of the things that are my specialty and experience.. Then comes the age of 13 when I joined a program called the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Program, (a youth program from ages 12-19 that promotes leadership, discipline, and physical fitness) this program is ran by the Department of National Defense. Multiple things I learned in this program relating to kids is leadership (leading and instructing many youths - up to 12 youth at a time), discipline (properly demonstrated proper discipline techniques ex. Show and tell- teaching them right from wrong with calm words & actions, set limits, giving an APPROPRIATE consequence, find opportunities for praising them (the sandwich method: positive words, constructive criticism, and positive words), and hearing them out) are just some of the things of my expertise and I have learned because of this amazing program. I have had odd jobs as a cleaner, server and worked in the summer of 2015 at Blackdown Ontario as a Youth Leader with the Air Cadet program. It was paid. Worked with all youths from all walks of life. I had many unpaid babysitting jobs just unpaid because I truly enjoy working with kids. It is my passion. I am Smart Serve Certified, First Aid and CPR-C Certified, and have won many awards from the Air Cadet Program including; Perfect Attendance Award 2012-2014, Debbie Younger Memorial Award 2015 (high school graduation) - $500 given to a student that has shown exceptional leadership throughout the school years. Customer Service Excellence Certificate 2016. WHIMIS. 2018. I briefly explained my childcare experience above but I will happily explain more and also explain more about myself.

Growing up, I had an amazing childhood with two loving parents, an older sister and a dog. What more could you ask for? I've always had passion for making others happy. I knew I always wanted to get into a career that included making others happy and I think being an Au Pair would definitely fulfill that promise. My education is ample because of schooling and also because of the Air Cadet program. I went to Timothy Christian School (a private Elementary Christian School in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada when I approached high school I fortunately attended the big sister school of TCS called Toronto District Christian High School (a private Christian high school) learning all required subjects including extra curricular subjects such as environmental block class, photography class, public service class and life skills/leadership class were all what I was apart of. Due to financial issues, I only attended there until grade 11 (2014.) And in 2015, I completed my senior year (grade12), at a public high school called Scarlett Heights Entrepreneurial Academy where I received my OSSD. (Ontario Secondary School Diploma). Following high school, my mom became ill. With that being said I decided not to go to college and dedicated my time to taking care of her. I was working that time in a cafe, while doing babysitting. With babysitting comes other responsibilities, one thing I tell all parents and families is that you are paying for care. I will go above and beyond and tend to have a habit of taking initiative. My high school volunteer hours were a majority of volunteer babysitting. One thing that you need to know that is, I am a family girl. Once I am working with you and your family, you will become my family. Above, I have worked and have many friends and family members with physical, mental and medical disabilities so I have many years experience from meeting all of these amazing people. I learned how to properly communicate and understand their needs, problem solving and the list goes on. A few words to describe me would be professional, kind, caring, passionate and hard working.

Growing up, I was priveleged to go to summer camp throughout the years and with that came my love of the outdoors. I love camping, cottaging, hiking, swimming and pretty much anything to do with the outdoors :). When I went to summer camp I looked up to my cabin counsellors as role models and I knew in my mind I always would love to work with kids but also work in the great outdoors. At the age of 12, I volunteered a summer at my Church's summer camp. I worked there as a counselor. I enjoy anything to do with people, I am very outgoing and happy. I love social interaction. I enjoy photography and nature. But most importantly, I absolutely love spending time with my family. Being an Au Pair, is the perfect opportunity to fulfill my dream. I promise to always show kindness, respect, professionalism, and diligence at all platforms at all hours, to all. If I could improve on one thing? It would be my cooking skills. My mom is a caterer, always taught me about her passion for food, one skill that my mom has is she knows how to make dishes from a majority of countries in the world. However, my skills are unfortunately not as excessive as her in the culinary world. I would improve on learning about more recipes from all around the world! How to prepare them all and perfect them. I can/will learn whichever cuisine the child/family requests adhering to all special instructions ex. Allergies, medical issues, provided. One thing I pride myself on is that I pay extra attention to detail and will make sure that the atmosphere around all is positive and nurturing. I could go on for hours. But these are quite long and I'm truly very sorry. If anyone at all would like to know anything or would like me to send my resume please do not hesitate to contact me and I will get back to you within the hour. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I look forward to hearing from you!!

    Kind Regards,
    Andrea White
