As the youngest of six kids, I spent a lot of time as a teenager and young adult caring for nephews and nieces, cousins and the children of neighbours. More recently I worked as a mother's helper in a family with young twin boys, which felt like the best job I've ever had. I've also worked with seniors, people with physical and mental challenges, as a homemaker with older families, and as a counselor/mentor with young adults via skype. I'm musical: singing, playing the piano, and writing music and lyrics. And physically fit and active: I love going on long walks, hiking, cycling, swimming, doing yoga, and am happy to support kids in whatever sport they're interested in. I'm well read, a native speaker of English with very basic French, and am interested in poetry, writing, storytelling, history, geography, literature, linguistics, art, science, psychology, world affairs, and am even decent at math and bookkeeping. I'm a good cook, a great shopper, am competent with all aspects of home and garden maintenance, attentive to detail, willing to see what needs doing and do it. I'm kind, compassionate, honest, well-organized, reliable, a non-smoker, environmentally friendly, diversity positive, a safe driver, have read The Lord of the Rings aloud four times, and love Harry Potter.
