  • About Me

    Dear Family,

I am applying for your Nanny position with your family because my love and compassion for children is immense and I understand the importance of creating positive environments for children to help cultivate positive explorations and development. I am experienced in creating fun, engaging, safe and creative activities and outings with children of all abilities and ages.

I love working directly with people in various capacities and have found these experiences rewarding and inspiring. I am a hardworking, communicative and socially aware person with a passion for health promotion and inclusion. I find I relate well to children and enjoy creating fun and engaging experiences for children. Most of my past and present work experiences have involved me caring for children in various settings and with many age groups. I have done volunteer work for Outdoors for All, a non-profit organization in Seattle WA with a focus on inclusion in outdoor recreation and adaptability. This position helped me grow as a care partner and as an outdoor recreation facilitator. This past summer, I was the Camp Leader at EcoQuest Kayak Camps where I planned programs, coordinated with staff and partnering community centers, while running engaging kayak camps in the outdoors for children ages 7-12. I love to share my passion for the outdoors and environment by exploring this with children. Going to the beach, taking walks and playing outside with children is one of my favorite ways to connect with kids.

For the past year and a half, I have been a care partner for a 16-year-old living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I have been challenged both mentally and physically to be the best care partner I can be, while gaining insights and a meaningful relationship with the family. Through being a care partner, I became proficient in wheelchair use and understand the accessibility considerations and health management foresight one must make to go on outings. I currently work as a Child Care Leader at View Royal Elementary. This job has helped me improve my skills in Positive Behavior Support and how to help children with conflict and difficulties through positive communication. In my current employment position, I work with children from Kindergarten to Grade 5. My past and present work experiences have given me the tools to support and engage children and youth, problem solve and collaborate. I believe that I can utilize these skills in your family’s home while caring for your children.

With my interpersonal communication skills and commitment to creating safe and engaging environments for children, I can help foster positive and inclusive relationships with your children.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Sincerely,
    Lydia
