Hello, My name is Jennifer, and I've been involved in childcare for the greater part of the last ten years. Whether it's as a nanny, an aunt, or a volunteer, I love playing with kids, and helping them to grow into mature responsible adults. Here's a little bit more about my background: I babysat kids in my neighbourhood as I was passing through grade school, and after I graduated from college, I got a job teaching EFL (English as a Foreign Language) to kids ranging through ages 6-months to high school in Japan, and I was in that position for three years. After that, I returned to Canada and work as a nanny for about two years for two different families in Winnipeg. After those two years, I lived in Uganda for one year. I wasn't working with children, though I did volunteer occasionally at The Giving Tree Ministries, where I read stories to children and helped them make a craft. I am a licensed Zumba Instructor as well, and also licensed in teaching Zumba Kids and Zumba Kids Jr. So, throughout all these years, I've learned a lot about working with kids, for example: disciplining (for example, when it's appropriate and when it's better to just let it go, and what real disciplining -- not punishing! -- looks like); teaching children, so I can help them with their homework and you won't have to worry about my doing it for them; making crafts; and age appropriate games and activities. With me, your children will be safe, and I will help them find fun things to pass their time (not the TV!) while challenging them to think beyond what they know, and helping them to discover the world they live in. While I do not have my First Aid or CPR certification, if that is a requirement for you to have, I will get that certification as soon as possible.
