  • About Me

My name is Charlotte and I currently doing my Master’s at Concordia University to become a therapist. My specialty is working with children and youth. I am currently interning as a drama therapist for nine clients with intellectual disabilities. Working with children is my passion. I was eager to begin babysitting the moment I turned twelve years old and I have worked for over fifteen families since then. I believe that my new skills as an emerging therapist will greatly enrich my work as a nanny or babysitter. I am a highly patient, caring, understanding, and nurturing person and my work as a therapist has only further deepened these qualities within me. I hope to become a child and youth therapist.
I am from a lovely, small town called Sackville, New Brunswick. My parents are both professors at Mount Allison University. I have a younger sister who I am very close with and an adorable dog named Jasper. Growing up in the countryside has given me an immense love for the outdoors and this is something that I have always tried to cultivate within the kids I am working with. I am bilingual and I enjoy working in both English and French. I have always loved working with kids of all ages as either a nanny, a therapist, or a theatre director. In 2010, my sister and I founded the community children’s theatre company, Will O’ The Wisp Productions. We have directed such wonderful children’s shows as Peter Pan, Le Petit Prince, Annie, and Alice In Wonderland. When working as a nanny I like to incorporate elements of theatre by encouraging imaginary play, playwriting, and fun performances of all kinds. I also love art making with children as well as singing and dance. I am enthusiastic, positive, and fun.
My role as a theatre director has taught me responsibility, organization, and punctuality. I excel at problem solving and crisis management. I am very safety conscious and I am an excellent driver. I have experience with all age groups, from infants to teens. I can follow instructions perfectly and I learn quickly. Aside from drama, and art-making, reading is particularly important to me as a childcare giver. As a child, my parents read to me every day and I attribute this to much of my creativity, imagination, and academic success. I would love to be able to read to your kids. I enjoy cooking healthy meals for kids as well as baking. I value exercise such as swimming, yoga, and mindfulness work. I would be happy to limit the children’s screen time (TV, computer, video games, phone) to a minimum during playtime, depending on the wishes of the parent. I am interested in child lead play. Creating a safe space for the child is my number one priority. I believe in boundary setting and consistency when working with children. I think it is important to truly listen to the child in order to better understand their needs. I am an incredibly loving and empathetic person and I believe that kindness and respect are the keys to working with children. I would love to be a part of helping your child become the wonderful person who they would like to become.
