  • About Me

    Hi!
My name is Michelle and I am a 25 year old recent graduate from Centennial College's, Recreation and Leisure Services Program.
I have always had an interest in children and working/careing for them ever since I was a young child. I am the oldest female of all my cousins and have babysat/looked after all of them from one time or another. Whether it be for an hour while a family member runs errands, or for several hours in an evening while they enjoyed a night out.
As I become older I began babysitting occaisionally for people within my neighbourhood. One family I babysat for a few weeks during the summer while they were at home renovating their house. I cared for a 1.5 year old and a 5 year old for 2-5 hours a day.
When I was 16 and began highschool I babysat everyday afterschool for the duration of the school year, for a family down the street. Two children aged 6 and 8. I would pick them up from school and walk them home. Provide a snack and play games until their parents returned home.
Having always had a nurturing side and a fondness of children, I have continued to work with them even now being 25 years old.
I graduated in 2011 and have continued to work with children in the recreation setting. I stared working as a camp counsellor with children aged 4-12. I worked majority of the time with children in the age group 9 and 10-12. During the school season for both the children and myself, I worked in a before and after school program. Which consisted of dropping off and picking up children from various schools in the Beaches area. Provided a healthy snack daily, and programmed for a variety of activities that included arts and crafts, science and sports.
I currently live with my boyfriend and his parents for about 5 years now in Scarborough, and I am a very outdoorsy person. Friends and family would tell you that I enjoy hikes and walking with my dog, a white shepherd named Rylee. Aside from that I have played soccer for many years competitively and I now enjoy teaching it to younger generations as it has been taught to me. I had an opportunity while in college to teach children aged 4-12, the fundamentals in soccer. And this was a great experience for me. Being about to work with children for one thing, and throwing in a hobby of mine that I have played for many years and have a good knowledge of.
Although soccer is my favorite sport, I am not limited to just the knowledge of soccer. I have played many other sports while in elementary school including track and field.
When I was a child I attended summer camps and I thoroughly enjoyed playing soccer and baseball all the time, I loved arts and crafts. The time when I got to be creative and enjoy making something with my own hands. Still to this day I have a creative touch and enjoy getting my hands dirty, all in the name of fun.
I look forward to hearing from you,
    Thank-you for your time.
    Sincerely,
    Michelle
