  • About Me

    Hi there!

My name is Sarah and here is a little about me.

I am currently a student at the University of Victoria. I'm doing an BSc in Geography with a specialization in coastal resource studies, and a minor in Environmental Science (so I know a lot of cool facts about the ocean as well as the island!).

I grew up in Toronto, and attended Queen's University for the first two years of my post-secondary education. However, at the prospect of never experiencing another winter with negative numbers, I transferred to uVic and have never been happier.

The biggest influence on my life so far has been the 15 years I have spent attending and working at YMCA Camp Kitchikewana. This camp is an overnight camp back in Ontario, and I have spent every summer there since I was 5, learning so many things! It was there that I developed a passion for some of my hobbies, including singing and playing the guitar, arts and crafts, sailing, canoeing, and being outdoors in general. I have also had some amazing learning experiences from working on staff, such as working with children with exceptionalities as their 24/7 caretaker, running a kitchen that cooks for 350 people daily, and teaching 6 year olds how to play guitar (trust me, when there are 16 of them and one of you, it's quite a feat).

As for my hobbies and interests, they are vast and varied. Growing up, I was a competitive dancer from the age of 5 until I was 18, and I did everything from ballet to hiphop. Safe to say I am a big fan of a good dance party. I also played soccer and even a little hockey as well!

My biggest passion, however, is my love of the outdoors, learning about it, and being in it. I make an effort to go camping often, and I find a different hike to do almost every weekend! I also make an effort to learn about the environment I am in as much as I can, so I can teach others about it, and hopefully spark their passion for the planet. The reason I'm at school studying coastal geography is because of my love for the ocean, and especially what lives in it. I want to learn as much as I possibly can, and then learn even more!

I am a very enthusiastic, easy-going, and fun loving person. I genuinely enjoy caring for children, but hopefully my 5 years of camp counselling and countless years of babysitting can speak to that!

I really look forward to connecting to you, but more importantly to your kids!
