Melinda worked in my Special Education classroom as an assistant for one year with elementary school aged children who had a variety of learning and behavioral challenges. Melinda was quick to learn procedures and helped the team in many ways, including organizing our work space, learning all she could about the children’s needs in her care and loving the children. She understood each child’s unique needs, had a good feel for appropriate developmental levels and expectations and every child felt welcome and genuinely liked by her. Melinda is very musical. This has always been a positive attribute when working with children of any age or ability. It is also an interest we ended up sharing for many years outside of the classroom.
