  • About Me

I have been married 30 years to Terry, have five children - Ryan 25, Stephen 23, Lisa 19, Joe 18 and Katrina 16. I obtained a diploma in Graphic Design at St. Lawrence College, worked at Carleton University until I got married, worked at a printing company full time until my first child was born. and worked part time at my own business until my 3rd child was born. I home schooled all of my children until they were in grades 7, 8 or 9, then worked as a personal support worker for Ian, my nephew by marriage, a 21 year old with Muscular Dystrophy. Five days a week I worked from 8:30 to 10:30 am: unhooked bi pap machine, put him in a sling to get him out of bed, put pants and socks on and into a wheelchair, finished dressing him, got breakfast, helped him eat, brush teeth, wash face and fix hair, make/change bed, laundry, wash humidifier hoses and other personal care responsibilities.
Two nights a week, I gave him a shower and the reverse of the morning activities.
I no longer work for him because his brother, who was 7 years older also with Muscular Dystophy, passed away and there was an excess of PSW's.
I made him feel as comfortable and as happy as possible, talked to him about his interests, and encouraged him to do as much as he could despite his disabilities.
I worked quickly, efficiently and accurately keeping in mind the needs and desires of the patient at all times.
I was also Assistant to the Chef at the President's Choice Cooking School where I prepared food, set s and wash dishes for cooking classes at the Cataraqui Loblaws. I taught children how to make pizzas, decorate cupcakes, and ethnic cooking for children and teen birthday parties. I worked very hard to do an excellent job for my supervisor and give customers an enjoyable experience. My co-workers enjoy working with me as I do with them.
Efficiency, cleanliness, friendliness, positive attitude no matter the circumstances was my goal.
The Cooking School Coordinator went to another job, so I am not working there right now.
I also look after my cousin's 16 month old son on Monday and Thursday afternoons, so I would not be available then or on Friday nights; I am a volunteer youth leader at my church from 7 to 10 pm.
The picture is of me and my 2 brothers.
