My Name is Elika, I am an 18 year old female of Jamaican background living in Brampton with my mother. I currently attend Humber College full-time in the Practical Nursing program and aspire to work as a obstetric and neonatal nurse until achieving a degree in Midwifery. I possess over 7 years of childcare experience working for extended family, as well as families whom I am not related. My experience covers caring for children and infants as young as 1 month of age to as old as 10 years of age. The maximum number of children that I have cared for at one time is 5. My hobbies include cooking, drawing, reading and playing sports. I have taken piano lessons and am capable of teaching basic scales and compositions to children. I am also able to assist children with school work in subjects such as art, reading and writing skills, mathematics and science. If required, I am able to read French and Spanish texts to encourage language development. I am certified in St. John Ambulance's First Aid and CPR course, at a healthcare provider level; as well as their "What Every Babysitter Should Know" course; I am also certified in ASIST Suicide Prevention Training.
