I am a registered nurse in the Philippines with experience in clinical and community Geriatric care. During this time, I learned a lot about the special needs of the elderly and I have the ability to provide professional but courteous service. I worked as a live in caregiver for over 2 years (childcare) and I gained more skills in terms of household management. I have a valid BC care aide registration and I want to pursue my career in healthcare. I have nursing skills to provide the basic health care services such as checking vitals and I know what signs to look for that could indicate a problem. I can lay out the medication for the patients and check to make sure they are taking it correctly. I also have the stamina to assist the individuals by helping them in and out of bed, getting dressed, bathing and with their meals. I have the flexibility to work within a facility or to travel to the patient’s homes. In addition to helping patients with their daily activities, I also have the ability to perform light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, washing dishes, doing laundry, changing bedding, preparing healthy meals and monitoring the patients to ensure they are eating their meals. I have outstanding time management skills with the ability to multi-task to take care of all required duties. I also have a valid driver’s license, so I can run errands, shop and take the patients to and from doctor visit. I have lots of patience and I enjoy talking with and providing companionship for these patients. I am well-versed in helping the patients in their routine activities, like feeding, bathing and grooming. I am a keen learner and have the ability to remain calm in emergency situations. My inherent people skills assist me in boosting resident’s moral and to maintain their dignity even in times of physical distress.
