About Me
I was born in Ukraine and grew up in Israel. As a result I am fluent in both Russian and Hebrew, and have extensive knowledge of both cultures. In 2006 I have immigrated to Canada and started my bachelor's degree in Psychology at the University of Toronto. I have completed my degree in 2010 and worked for 5 years in an autism therapy research lab at York University. Although my work was focused on the research side, I had ample opportunities to interact with children (3-6 years old) participating in the study. In addition, I have worked closely with the clinicians providing the therapy. All those interactions taught me quite a bit about child development and parenting. I believe that spending time with a child effectively means to express keen interest in the child's activity of choice, and actively sharing the experience with the child. This allows to get to know the child better and see the world through their eyes, and build a base on which social skills, discipline and other important education can be taught.
In summer 2013 I have decided to take a year off and go travelling around the world with my husband. That year of travelling gave me time to think and re-evaluate my career direction. I have decided that I would like to focus more on hands-on work with children, rather than research about child development. I enjoy nature, literature, home cooking and crafts of all kinds. I would be delighted to share my interests with your child.- Education: Undergraduate degree
