Having lived in Tanzania I feel I have grown with a mindset that allows me to see both sides of the world. It has made me humble towards what I have received in my life, considering most people in Tanzania do not go school. My father and mother raised my sister and I to be independent, value working hard to earn your keep but in the process give your mind a chance to grow with new people, places, etc.
While working and caring for kids it has mostly been volunteer opportunities. Before coming to Canada, I got my paid experience babysitting, and would often take time to help kids with their homework. While in Canada, I have worked, and continue to do so, with kids from the age of 4 to 12. Our activities would mostly consist of problem solving, writing, reading, etc. I am also an English and Gender Studies major, which has helped a lot in my tutoring, particularly English Literature.
