I am from a farm in Wisconsin where I learned, along with my four siblings (and usually an exchange student sibling, too!) to appreciate plants, work with animals, appreciate music and arts, get dirty, and see hard tasks through to the finish. I've always loved writing and have had a desire to build communities: when I was in middle school, I started my own summer camp (and I lived on the savings through college!). After lots of similar projects such as starting a cake decorating club and business, a clowning project, I studied abroad for a year in Paraguay. This spurred my love for learning languages. In college, I got my bachelor's in Spanish and a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. After spending my college years between school, working at a café, and running a latin dance nonprofit (I found my passion for latin dance by chance my freshman year), I launched into my career teaching abroad. I lived in Spain and taught for a year. I moved back to the states for a year, living in Chicago and pursuing my passion in dance by joining a latin dance performance team. However, I started to feel the pull to go abroad again, and so I spent a semester working in a bilingual program in Budapest, Hungary. Through a recent and sudden twist of fate, I fell in love, which brought me to Vancouver. I'm here starting my own business in creativity and consumption and developing an artistic and entrepreneurial project on the side. I'm looking for casual work to provide some income as I work towards these longer-term goals, and given my experience with children, learning, and teaching, a babysitting job is a good fit!
