Hi there.
My name is Tia , I am 20 years old living at home with my parents in downtown Whitby. I am currently attending school in Oshawa studying personal support work (2nd year). I grew up in Whitby, always with my mother being involved in the community as a teacher/principle. Since 2008 she has owned two Montessori schools in Durham which gave me the amazing opportunity to not only work and do my community hours, but I also very frequently got the chance to babysit for the families that attended the schools. I looked after one specific family and their two children (ages 3 and 5) for four years. I would look after them in their home 2-3 times a week, however if they were ever going away for the evening/weekend I would stay the night. Since then, I have always had a passion of helping both the young and the elderly which is why I chose the career path of a personal support worker. I later hope to get into nursing and become an RN.
Right now, I am in school twice a week every Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as well as placement in a community Nursing home on Saturday's and Sunday's. I would love the opportunity to put my years of babysitting and care taking experience to good use.
