Dear Caregivers, My name is Wendy and I have recently completed a Bachelors of Arts in Child and Youth Care Counselling. My educational background coupled with my professional experiences working with children, youth and their families makes me an ideal candidate for a nanny placement. As my future career goal is to advance in the Child and Youth Care industry with a specific focus on working with vulnerable children and youth, I strongly believe that a nanny placement will provide me with valuable experience and insight needed to excel in this field. Throughout my studies, I have the opportunity to utilize my education in a practical setting through a variety of practicum placements. This was particularly evident at my practicum placement with Eagle High Alternative High School. During this placement, I worked closely with at-risk youth in a self-guided educational curriculum. Moreover, my on-going employment with the Boys and Girls Clubs of South coast B.C. has allowed me various opportunities to work with children and youth as well as their families. Throughout the three years I’ve been with the Boys and Girls Clubs, I’ve had the opportunity to work one-on-one in a mentoring program, lead and facilitate an assortment of programs, connect with families on day-to-day activities at the site and plan programs for both our afterschool and day camp programs. This prior summer, I gained further professional experience with this organization and had the opportunity to illustrate my leadership abilities as their summer programmer. As a summer programmer, I held a supervisory role to a team of 3 staff members and volunteers in leading them through working with children in a recreational setting as well as providing additional support in behaviour management. I strongly believe that my accumulated experiences will enable me to connect as well as exercise sound judgement when working with various children in a nanny position. I am in no doubt assured that my educational and practical experiences have equipped me with the ability to face any challenges that a nanny placement may present. It is my intention to grow both professionally and personally towards a future in working with children and youth.
